This week 30 years ago: Holloway mum’s horror after toddler nearly injects herself with blood-stained syringe found in garden

A Holloway mum was fearing for her children’s lives after finding her toddler about to inject herself with a blood-stained syringe.
Two-year-old Sammi Page picked it up in the garden of her home in Hilldrop Crescent. It was one of three thrown over the fence that week.
Mum of five Jenny said: “She was about to put it in her arm. She knows how a syringe works because she’s always playing doctors and nurses.
“I dread to think what might have happened if I’d been a few seconds later.”
Meanwhile, four bungling cops chasing a suspect in Finsbury’s Spa Green Estate were stopped in their tracks – after they broke a lift.
The burly officers got trapped in the lift between the fifth and sixth floors of Tunbridge House. It was jammed for an hour before they were saved.
When they were rescued, they realised the weight limit was 800lbs – and worked out their combined mass far exceeded this.
