Firefighters rushed to tackle a blaze in the roof of a takeaway in Highbury on Tuesday night (October 25).

Three fire engines and 15 firemen from Islington and Holloway Stations were called to Firezza Delivery Pizza, in St Paul’s Road, at around 7pm, after the chimney caught fire.

Although the building has flats above it, there were no reports of any injury.

Firefighters used a floating platform to get to top of the third floor building, then a saw to cut into the chimney and put out flames.

The flue was damaged throughout the building.

One firefighter who was attended the scene said: “These types of fire always cause problems because of the height and also getting inside the flue. But we had it under control just before 9pm.”

The cause of the fire under investigation.
