A HIGHBURY resident is following in the footsteps of celebrities such as John Cleese - and guiding commuters throughout the UK as the new voice of the TomTom navigation system.

Josephina Budd, of Drayton Park, won the TomTom Voice of England competition after sending in a short clip of herself talking about the traffic to Heart Radio.

Lyndal Newman, of TomTom, said: “We were looking for someone to be as creative as possible for the new English voice of TomTom. Josephina was chosen from hundreds of entries as our choice to help drivers across the country avoid the bottlenecks and queues.”

Ms Budd, a 36-year-old client services manager, joins a long line of celebrities, such as John Cleese and Homer Simpson, who have already lent their voices to the well known navigation system. She visited a studio earlier this month to record all 59 TomTom commands. Ms Budd’s voice will be available as a free download for all TomTom users in the new year.
