Highgate Harriers’ combined men and women’s team secured promotion to Division Two of the Southern League after winning their final meeting of the season on Saturday.
Highgate sat fourth in Division Three North going into the weekend, with the top four teams out of 17 making the step up – and their victory on their home track at Parliament Hill Fields secured their passage.
The Harriers won the meeting in style with 312 points, ahead of Colchester & Tendring (210), Biggleswade (161) and West Norfolk (74).
Senior stars such as Shaun Dixon and Nina Anderson were in action, with Dixon winning the 5,000m and the B-class 1500m while Anderson was first in the 400m and 800m.
However, there were also impressive performances from some of the club’s younger talents and 16-year-old Ben Furnham, who attends University College School in Hampstead, won the B shot put with 7.23m and was second in the A discus A with 18.84m.
