Highgate Harriers’ combined men and women’s team are gunning for promotion as they prepare for their final meeting in Division Three North of the Southern League tomorrow.
Highgate sit fourth in the league, with the top four teams winning promotion – and victory on their home track at Parliament Hill Fields on Saturday would secure a place in Division Two for next season.
The Harriers will face three rival teams – Vale of Aylesbury, who beat Highgate at their home ground last year but are placed seventh at the moment, along with 13th-placed Biggleswade and 14th-placed Colchester Tendring.
Unfortunately, Highgate will be missing Ryan McKinlay – a valuable member of the team – as he will be competing in the Scottish 3,000m senior steeplechase at Scotstown.
McKinlay underlined his ability by coming fifth in the 3,000m steeplechase at the British Championship and Trials in Birmingham, finishing in nine minutes 7.8 seconds.
