Holloway Road suspected mugger who died is named

A suspected mugger who died following an incident in Islington, has been named as Gabriel Frapiccini.
Police were called by a member of the public at approximately 22:45hrs on Thursday, October 8, following a suspected robbery in Holloway Road.
When officers arrived at the scene they found Mr Frapiccini, 36, of York Way, Camden, had been detained by members of the public. Police then handcuffed him but did not place him under arrest.
Officers quickly established that Mr Frapiccini appeared unwell and an ambulance was called. He was then taken to hospital where he died at 00:12 on Friday October 9.
The death is now being investigated by the Met’s Homicide and Major Crime Command. Next of kin have been notified.
A post-mortem examination took place on Saturday, October 10 but was inconclusive. Further test results are expected.
The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards has referred the case to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) which has launched an independent investigation into the contact of police with Mr Frapiccini.
