Drum’n’bass fans were left fuming after being refused entry to a Finsbury Park festival because they “turned up too late”.

Thousands of people flocked to the Tranz-mission all-dayer on Sunday, but anyone who arrived after 7pm was stopped in their tracks by security guards.

It resulted in many people – some of whom paid £56 for tickets – missing out on seeing hip-hop legend Grandmaster Flash and others at the event, which was dubbed “London’s rave festival”.

Organisers Slammin’ Events said the time had been advertised online since March – but there was nothing on tickets to inform people.

Charles Robertson of Finsbury Park Road accused the organisers of “ripping off” ticket holders.

He said: “They refused entry to anyone turning up at 7pm for an event that was due to close at 10pm.

“Nowhere on the ticket did it say that gates would be closed at 7pm. And of course there was no one from Slammin’ Events at the gate to discuss this with.”

Another festivalgoer did get in, but had he been a bit later would not have done.

He said: “Due to unexpected work commitments, I was a late arrival. I got to Finsbury Park at about 5.30pm, but had no idea there was a last entry time.

“You have to feel for those who didn’t make it. There was nothing on my print-out ticket that said so – it just said the event ended at 10.30pm.”

James Orfeur of Slammin’ Events said the last entry time was in place for health and safety reasons.

He told the Gazette: “The advertised time for last entry was 6pm and we kept the entry open till 7.15pm, when I myself closed it down.

“The last entry time had been on the event website since March in the FAQ section, was emailed to every ticket holder and was advertised on the event Facebook page and the Twitter page.

“We did all we could to advertise the details.

“There has to be a point where we turn the entrance tent into an exit ready for people leaving the event in any numbers and this is all agreed with the council and licensing authorities in advance.”
