Dozens of youngsters head to town hall to boost their employment chances
More than 90 young people flocked to the town hall to try and bag an apprenticeship.
The event, in Upper Street, Islington on March 10, saw driven youngsters get the lowdown on a variety of positions, including roles in plumbing and heating, IT, finance, business and more.
Small workshops were held on how to do a good personal statement – now they have to apply their new skills once the roles are officially advertised.
Daniel Waithe, 22, a former council apprentice who now has a town hall job, said: “An apprenticeship is a really good way of getting an entry level job for young people who have neither experience or contacts with borough employers. You get back out of an apprenticeship what you put into it. I’ve worked hard and it’s paid off because I now have a full time job at the council.”
