The council showed its support for a campaign to stamp out homophobia.
Islington Council promoted the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia (IDAHO) by having the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Rainbow flag flown over the Town Hall in Upper Street last Thursday.
It also displayed information posters in its buildings and gave staff orange ribbons to wear.
Council leader Cllr Catherine West (pictured centre) said: “Despite Islington’s reputation for being tolerant, there are incidents of homophobic bullying.
“It is really important we end unacceptable treatment and stand up for equal rights.”
