Some of the town hall’s most senior figures swapped the ballot box for disco balls to help a leisure centre celebrate 40 years.
Clad in flares and comedy headgear, the mayor of Islington, Cllr Barry Edwards, Cllr Janet Burgess, deputy leader of the Islington Council and Cllr Barbara Sidnell, joined hundreds of teenagers at the a 70s fancy dress spectacular to mark the 40th birthday of the Sobell Leisure Centre, in Hornsey Road, Holloway.
The youngsters enjoyed rollerskating, mocktails and a Mini Cooper Photobooth which proved a big hit.
Cllr Edwards said: “I had a fantastic time at the recent Saturday Night Project, it was great seeing the whole range of activities provided. The young people were enjoying themselves and the 70s music in a safe and friendly environment.”
