A 12-year-old girl has raised £1,100 for a cancer charity by cutting her hair – and will also donate that.

Tia Dalton, of Islington, decided she wanted to get her long hair cut and discovered the Little Princess Trust online.

The trust provides real hair wigs to children and young adults who have lost their own due to cancer and other illnesses. Tia’s gran Bernie has cancer so she thought it was a perfect solution.

“I went on the website and looked on YouTube,” Tia told the Gazette. “I was really excited to get it cut. My friends all said they were really proud of me.”

Tia expected to raise about £250, but thanks to the generosity of friends and teachers at City of London Academy Islington, family, and mum Caroline’s colleagues, she’s done a lot better.

“I could not be any more proud of this young lady, she melts my heart with her kindness,” said Caroline.
