AN ISLINGTON pothole was named and shamed in a TV documentary as the worst in London.
A huge hole in Halliford Street, Islington, was slammed as “lethal and the size of a crater on the moon” by the Motorcycle Action Group in a BBC1 documentary.
The dangerous dent in the road has been filled since filming took place – but the Islington Cyclist Action Group says Halliford Street is not alone, and named Ellington Street, Islington; Barnsbury Street, Barnsbury; and the junction of Farringdon Road and Rosebery Avenue, Finsbury, as the other worst offenders.
Cyclist Robin Jacob said: “The council needs to make major bike routes a top priority for pothole mending.”
Councillor Paul Smith, executive member for environment at Islington Council, said: “Despite the government cuts we will continue to fill potholes like those on Halliford Street.”
