STREET dancers The Dreambears made an appearance at the finale to Islington’s LGBT History Month.

The duo performed at the special Winter Ball event hosted at the Islington Assembly Hall, Upper Street, on Friday, to mark the end of a successful month.

Four-hundred members of the LGBT community from Islington and Camden packed out the hall for an evening of dancing, and were joined by Councillor James Murray, Islington Council’s executive member for housing. He said: “This year’s LGBT History Month in Islington - organised jointly for the first time with Camden - has been a great success.

“I was glad to be at the final night’s celebration at Islington Town Hall and I’d like to thank all the organisers and volunteers on behalf of the council for all their hard work.

“The month’s events have reminded us of important lives, battles, and achievements of LGBT history - and the importance of community groups working together to create greater equality in our city and beyond.”

The Winter Ball closed out a four week long multi-media extravaganza in both boroughs, featuring literary, musical, film and educational events.
