Mayor of London Boris Johnson has called on Islington schools to make the most of free Olympic and Paralympic tickets available to them.
Only 63 per cent of schools in the borough have applied for the 125,000 tickets up for grabs. There are enough 2012 tickets for one in eight of London school children aged 10 to 18 to attend free of charge.
Mr Johnson said: “Islington’s school kids have a once in a lifetime opportunity to get hold of the hottest tickets in town and experience the greatest sporting event on the planet. This spread of tickets will give them access to some truly awesome venues.”
