One scrambled egg. On one slice of toasted sourdough bread. With a slice of salmon. Costing about £9. It can be hard not to laugh at certain start-up cafes in London (we’re not naming any names...) with their stuffy, self-entitled pretentiousness. But one place where you can’t level this accusation is Edith’s House in Crouch End - the cafe designed to be like your grandparents’ living room.
Co-founder Michael Camp said: “We wanted to create a space where people feel at home and can be nostalgic about good times with family members, specifically grandparents and aunts and uncles.
“We have designed the space to represent a house. Our menu is inspired by dishes we were made by our relatives or food items we baked or cooked with our nans: cakes, scones, soups, stew etc.”
