Jeremy Corbyn took a seat next to some Islington teenagers last week to learn how to fix cracked phone screens.

The youngsters were taking part in the iPhone Repair Academy run by Cracked It, a social enterprise designed to keep kids away from crime and help them get work.

The budding phone repair technicians helped the Labour leader fix the phone at the St. John’s Community Centre on the Elthorne Estate.

He said: “I thought it was very impressive. These are young people who have come together in a positive way in a positive atmosphere. Much better that - looking positively on the world - than being ignored and ending up with negative ideas and negative attitudes. Well done Cracked It.”

Josh Babarinde, Cracked It’s chief executive, said: “It was fantastic that Jeremy Corbyn was able to join us for the afternoon.

“I’m so proud that our team of trainee phone technicians could showcase the skills and talents they developed on the course, and ask for Jeremy’s advice about their future plans.”
