Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver has announced the opening date for his eagerly anticipated Islington restaurant.

The latest branch of Jamie’s Italian, at the Angel Centre, in St John Street, Islington, will open on August 29 at 5pm.

The new eaterie will be able to seat 250 diners, making it one of the biggest Jamie’s Italians in the country, and should create around 100 jobs for people in area.

Jamie said: “Islington’s such a foodie part of London and the Angel Building is going to become such an iconic part of London that I’m excited to be a part of it. We’ve got outside seating for when the weather is good, and we’ve got a great little coffee van outside the front door doing fresh coffee through the morning and early afternoon.

“When people eat at a Jamie’s Italian, I want them to really get into the food, maybe try something they wouldn’t normally try, but always be safe in the knowledge that they’re eating good stuff, prepared with love. My mentor, Gennaro Contaldo the “Italian Stallion”, works side by side with me on the menu and the staff training and so it’s all completely authentic, rustic Italian grub.”
