Islington-born actress Kathy Burke posed for a photoshoot with top photographer Rankin to highlight the inequalities faced by millions of women across the world.
Ms Burke, who grew up in the borough and went to the Anna Scher Theatre, was one of six celebrities who agreed to be pictured in preparation for the 100th International Women’s Day next Tuesday.
The shoot was part of ActionAid’s Get Lippy campaign, which asked the celebrities to send a message of support to the millions of women in the developing world who are struggling everyday to improve their lives - and to say what they thought was the best and worst thing about being a woman today.
In typically bullish style, Ms Burke said: “The best thing about being a women is that our farts smell of strawberries and the worse thing is being told by a man to smile, when I don’t wanna smile”
The other women involved were Joanna Lumley, Annie Mac, Beverley Knight, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Miranda Richardson.
