Kids at a Stroud Green adventure playground were cooked free meals by a chef earlier this month as part of a scheme.
The food was dished out to youngsters at Islington play association’s Timbuktu adventure playground by volunteers from the Felix Project.
The project has been working with the Mayor’s Fund for London Kitchen programme. It collects surplus food from suppliers and delivers it free to 200 charities and schools.
Francesca Silvester, play and learning manager at Timbuktu, said: “The children watched the chefs in action, learnt about the food and then sat down together, tucking into aubergine and tomato pasta, fresh mixed salad and fruit filled coconut pancakes. It gave them the energy to be super active and adventurous in the playground.”
