A stabbing in Newington Green left a teenage boy in hospital late last night.

Police taped off King Henry’s Walk in the aftermath of the attack, which happened at about 10pm. Officers have yet to arrest anyone over the incident.

The victim, 18, was this morning not thought to be seriously hurt.

The Met on Monday began a week-long operation to get blades off the capital’s streets using stop-and-search, knife bins, weapon searches, and swoops on people already thought to be associated with knife and weapon crime.

It comes less than two months after a spate of stabbings in Islington towards the end of August.

A man in his 40s was attacked in broad daylight outside the Masjid Al-risaalah mosque in Warlters Road on August 23. The following day, two 19-year-olds were found with stab wounds in Arlington Square – and a 17-year-old boy was stabbed in a “group fight” at Caledonian Road and Barnsbury station less than 24 hours later on August 25,

Mohammed Sharif Omar, 49, of Bartholomew Road, Kentish Town, was charged with attempted murder over the incident in Warlton Road.

And the August 25 attack saw two teenagers charged with attempted murder. Neither can be named for legal reasons.
