A man has been jailed for six months after being caught with a Stanley knife while sleeping rough outside King’s Cross station.
Paul Thorpe, 30, of Mecklenburgh Street, King's Cross, was seen by police on December 11 and after checking on their system they realised he was in breach of a court order.
He was arrested and found with the blade, which he said he had intended to give to police.
Thrope had already denied possession of a bladed article at an earlier hearing, where he had admitted breaching a prior court order. He was later found guilty of carrying the weapon.
On Wednesday last week at Westminster Magistrates' Court he was locked up for six months and ordered to pay a £120 victim surcharge.
Sgt David Underwood of the British Transport Police said: "Thorpe was in possession of a nasty looking blade and I fully accept the court locking him up.
"We are committed to tackling knife crime throughout the Capital and sentences such as this demonstrate how we will take quick and decisive action against those who carry weapons."
