Staff at an animal rescue shelter are desperately trying to reunite a lost kitten with its owner.
The tiny moggie was stuck 45 metres down an electricity pipe, which it could have accessed at varying points including Seven Sisters Road in Finsbury Park, Lough Road in Holloway, or Millfields Road in Lower Clapton.
Luckily, the pipeline was not live as maintenance work was taking place and the adventurous kitten was heard by workmen meowing further along the line in Brent.
They managed to fish her out and the feline is now recovering at The Mayhew Animal Home in Kensal Green, after being named Billie by staff after the actress Billie Piper.
Animal Welfare Officer, Tania Mazonni, said: “We are appealing to find the kitten’s owners. We picked Billie up after the workmen called us. The guys were there doing electrical works underground and heard Billie meowing from one of the electric tunnels which was 45 metres down.
“The kitten was in good condition, I think it was down there for about a day and is very friendly and loves a cuddle.”
The pipe is three miles long, starting in Hackney and ending in St John’s Wood – other access points include Eade Road in Finsbury Park and Pratt Street in Camden.
