SOAP scoundrel Larry Lamb showed a far more light-hearted side than EastEnders fans are used to when he dropped into a freezing Islington on Saturday to switch on the Angel Christmas lights.
The dashing actor was more lovable dad Mick from Gavin and Stacey than scheming sex abuser Archie Mitchell when he mingled with locals and brought a bit of festive cheer to Islington Green.
Ellis Richardson, 17, who was handing out balloons to get people in the Christmas spirit, said: “Larry was great. He was really happy to chat and have his picture taken and apart from his Lndoner’s voice he was nothing like Archie Mitchell.
“He was a real hit with the grannies too, a bit of eye candy for them I guess, and apparently there were loads more people than last year which was great.”
