A KILLER who strangled a transsexual prostitute and stole 250 from her to pay for a threesome with two women was jailed for at least 21 years yesterday (Wednesday).

Leon Fyle, 22, arranged to visit 29-year-old Destiny Lauren after finding her advert in a newspaper.

He was caught on CCTV donning a pair of black gloves before entering her flat in Leighton Crescent, off Brecknock Road, Holloway.

Miss Lauren - whose uncle Paul Hill was a member of the Guildford Four - was found dead two hours later by her brother Lyndon.

She was lying half-naked on the bed with her arms tied behind her back with stockings.

Fyle had stolen her designer jewellery, mobile phone and cash - but had forgotten to retrieve his coat hanging from a hook on her bedroom door.

During his trial, he denied murder - claiming that she was still alive when he left her flat after paying her 150 for sex.

But a jury at Snaresbrook Crown Court convicted Fyle of murder following a two-week trial last month.

Yesterday, Judge David Radford jailed Fyle for life and ordered him to serve at least 21 years before he can apply for parole.

The judge said: "What is the stark truth is that you murdered Destiny Lauren by forcibly applying pressure around her neck using both your hands in a sufficient time to strangle her dead. It was a vicious and callous act."

Welcoming the sentence, Detective Inspector Liz Baker of the Homicide and Serious Crime Command, said: "Destiny had a troubled history and had suffered depression following the death of her mother but was trying to turn her life around.

"She was close to her father and two brothers, who she contacted regularly, and she had a love for the finer things in life.

"Fyle has not shown one shred of remorse for this callous act nor for the suffering he has inflicted on Destiny's family and friends. I hope his conviction can go some way to ease their pain."

The family of Destiny Lauren has been beset by tragedy ever since her uncle was wrongly jailed for two IRA pub bombings in 1975. Paul Hill served 15 years in prison until the convictions were overturned.

Then in November 2005, Miss Lauren's Belfast-born mother Elizabeth Hill killed herself outside the Leighton Crescent flat.

Miss Lauren's brother Julian Samuels said in a statement: "[The murder] has wrecked my whole family.

"My mother committed suicide five years ago, so to lose another family member is devastating.

"I want justice for me and my family for the horrific crime against my sister Destiny."

Miss Lauren, born Justin Samuels, advertised her services in phone boxes and on the internet as a "very well endowed pre-op transsexual".

On the day of Miss Lauren's death, Fyle - who had previously sought the services of transsexual prostitutes going by the names of "Fransexual" and "VickisDomain" - travelled from St Mary Cray station in Kent to London Victoria before going on to Kentish Town Tube station.

Lyndon Samuels, 35, was waiting outside the flat as Fyle arrived.

Prosecutor Duncan Penny said: "The procedure was that if Lyndon was at Destiny's flat and a client called and was going to visit, she would ask him to leave the premises."

Lyndon described the killer as having a "bad looking face" and became worried when almost two hours passed without seeing him leave.

When Mr Samuels returned indoors in the early hours of November 5, he discovered his sister lying dead.

After the murder, Fyle caught a 214 bus to King's Cross where he paid 250 for sex with two prostitutes at a brothel in Gray's Inn Road.

Footage from the bus captured Fyle admiring Miss Lauren's designer jewellery on his arms while still wearing a glove on his right hand.

Miss Lauren's mobile phone was discovered when Fyle was arrested at an address in Catford.

DNA from his saliva was also found on her right nipple.

Fyle, a bisexual who was "intrigued" by transsexuals, told the court he had been sexually abused as a young boy before flitting between the streets and a string of foster homes.

The fiend, of Rushey Mead, Lewisham, has previous convictions for robbery, burglary and violence - including a 2005 conviction for wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm when he slashed a man's face and stabbed him in the chest after a gay experience in an alleyway in Lewisham.
