An Islington Council-run nursery shamed in an Ofsted report last year has been recognised for its improvement.
As reported by the Gazette in August, Westbourne Early Years Centre, in Bride Street, was given an “inadequate” rating. This is lowest on a scale of four.
The inspector had slammed: “Staff do not always know how children get injured.” The nursery’s learning provision was also slated.
But less than six months later, it has been rated “good” – second on the scale – after being re-inspected.
Inspector Anneka Qayyum observed: “Staff are friendly and form close bonds with children. They are sensitive to children’s needs and support their emotional well-being effectively.”
Tracy Smith, interim executive head of the nursery, said: “We are all so pleased with the inspection result. Everyone in the team works really hard to provide high quality care and education to ensure the best outcomes for children at Westbourne.”
