Vulnerable children and families in Islington benefit from the town hall’s “good” social care services, a report has found.
Children at risk of radicalisation, female genital mutilation and forced marriage are well protected in the borough thanks to the co-operation of a range of public services, according to the Ofsted report.
Out of 136 local authorities Islington is one of only 39 rated as “good”, second on a scale of four.
Cllr Joe Calouri, the town hall’s young people leader, said: “This administration has always prioritised protecting funding for children’s services. As a consequence, our children’s early help and social care services have gone from strength to strength.
“It’s our mission to ensure that all children and young people are safe, protected and able to have the best start in life, while families who have problems are supported to grow stronger so they can overcome their difficulties.”
