An all day music event set to take place in Highbury Fields has been cancelled due to concerns over crowd numbers and noise.

Food company Nandos announced their plans for the free festival on June 9 – which already had acts such as Rizzle Kicks on the bill – two weeks ago, before a deal had been reached with Islington Council.

Aside from noise concerns, it is understood that council officers felt the organisers had “jumped the gun” by publicising the event through the Gazette and Kiss FM, and couldn’t guarantee thousands of people wouldn’t turn up.

He said: “Nando’s should have taken the local residents concerns a bit more seriously.”
