Islington is set to merge its IT services with Camden and Haringey in a move that will save money and “encourage innovation”.
The back-office merger would see staff become employees of Camden Council, which would oversee the running of the service.
It will be voted on by the council’s top table on Thusrday, though any agreement will need to be signed off by Camden and Haringey before coming into effect.
A report states no jobs are expected to be “deleted” at this stage, and that staff will transfer across on their existing terms.
Currently a secondment system is being used, but officers have agreed it’s not sustainable.
The document, signed off by finance chief Cllr Andy Hull, states: “These proposals will strengthen governance and enable us to build an efficient, strong, robust and resilient shared digital service that will save money in the delivery of ICT services.
“More significantly, Shared Digital will improve the service to our users while enabling and encouraging innovation.”
