A lawyer has been chosen as the Liberal Democrat candidate in a by-election for St Peter’s ward.
David Sant is standing in the contest on August 11 to fill the seat vacated by councillor Shelley Coupland who resigned over alleged benefit irregularities.
Mr Sant, of Rotherfield Street, Islington, has lived in the borough for 10 years and is a governor at New North Community School in Popham Street, Angel.
Islington Liberal Democrat Leader Councillor Terry Stacy, said: “With such a huge Labour majority on the council, residents need and want a campaigner like David who is committed to the area and has a proven track record.”
The other candidates are Richard Bunting (Conservative), Alice Perry (Labour), Martin Rutherford and Dr Brian Potter (Independents) and Caroline Allen (Green Party).
