Tony Benn pledges support for Occupy London protest

An outspoken former MP pledged his support to the Occupy London protest.

Ex-Labour politician Tony Benn, 86, delivered a speech outside St Paul’s Catherdral last Friday.

He said: “The issue is unelected power. These people did not get elected so they can’t be removed and they don’t have to listen to us and that’s the problem you face and what you are dealing with by camping at St Paul’s.

“All over the world there’s a great deal of interest in what is happening here. Stick to what you’re doing because you’re giving people hope and hope is the greatest source for social progress and for social change.”
