A man is in a “critical but stable” condition in hospital after falling from Archway bridge on Saturday morning, said police.
Paramedics, police and an air ambulance rushed to the scene in Archway Road, Highgate, shortly after 10.30am. The road was closed in both directions for a time while the man was stabilised, the air ambulance landing on the dual carriageway close to Despard Road.
The man, in his mid-30s, was airlifted to the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel, which specialises in treating head injuries.
The bridge carries Hornsey Lane over Archway Road, and was the scene of three fatal falls in 2010. Another woman was talked down from the bridge last year by members of the public.
