A MAN is fighting for his life after he was knocked over by a hit and run driver at a notoriously dangerous junction this afternoon.
The 60-year-old was crossing the road at the junction of Mildmay Park and Ball’s Pond Road, Islington, at 12.30pm when he was hit by a black Vauxhall Astra.
At this early stage, police believe the driver of the car went through a red light before speeding off.
Witnesses rushed to help the injured man, who was taken by ambulance to Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel for treatment. Doctors say his condition is critical.
The junction of Ball’s Pond Road, Mildmay Park and Southgate Road has been the scene of a number of accidents over the years.
