An Islington man has been jailed for his role in the “callous” knifepoint robbery of a rolex watch – but police are still hunting his knife-wielding accomplice.

Odel Bentham, 27, of no fixed address but from Islington, pleaded guilty to one count of robbery at Southwark Crown Court yesterday.

He was sentenced to five years and four months imprisonment.

On October 1 Benthem and an unknown accomplice, both on mountain bikes, robbed a man outside a café in Crawford Street, W1.

Benthem grabbed the Rolex Daytona watch while his accomplice held a hunting knife against the victim’s chest.

But a café worker and members of the public intervened, forcing the crooks to abandon one bike, making off on the same set of wheels.

Police hope CCTV footage, showing the crooks fleeing the scene, will help trace the unknown knifeman.

He riding a white Trek bike and wearing a yellow his visibility jacket. But later changed into a blue long-sleeved sports top.

DC Nathan Rock, of Westminster Crime Squad, said: “Although the second suspect had his face covered, I am certain that there will be people who recognise Bentham and will be able to help us identify his accomplice seen riding the bike.

“This man recklessly used a knife to commit a callous robbery. It is likely that he associated with Bentham in and around Islington, and it is vital that we trace him and bring him to justice before he commits further offences.”
