Local residents are being encouraged to explore Islington’s waterworks as part of the Angel Canal Festival.
Currently celebrating its 30th birthday, the festival will take place by City Road Lock, towards Regent’s Canal.
In addition to the 80 stalls selling a wide range of products from canal-ware to food, there will also be a range of activities available to suit all the family.
Younger residents will be able to take advantage of the children’s fun fair and boat-trips, while adults are entertained by live music and street theatre.
Performers set to play at the festival include The Pearly Minstrels, London Pride Morris Men and a five-piece singalong band who will be encouraging attendees to join in.
As is tradition, Mayor of Islington Cllr Kat Fletcher will open the event with a welcome speech at midday before starting the Bell Boat Race at 1pm.

“I’m thrilled to be opening the Angel Canal Festival, which has been running for 30 years this year and promises to be fantastic yet again,” she said.
“This event and others like it are a wonderful and important way of communities coming together to celebrate all that is good and great about the neighbourhood and Islington as a borough.”
Beryl Windsor, co-ordinator and chair, added: “It is a lovely event, very like a village fete but with boats in the middle of the city. It brings people together from all walks of life into this part of the borough to enjoy all the canal has to offer.”
The 30th Angel Canal Festival is on September 4 at City Road Lock.
