More than 20,000 older people can renew their free travel card during the next two months.

Those whose Freedom Travel Pass, which allows old and disabled people to travel on public transport across London for free, runs out on March 31 need to renew before the end of the year.

Pass holders are being encouraged to do it online and Islington library staff will be on hand to help anyone who does not have a computer or needs help using one.

Those who can’t renew online can return the form enclosed with letters that will be sent out in the coming days.

Cllr Janet Burgess, Islington Council’s executive member for health and wellbeing, said: “The Freedom Pass is well named – it enables older people to travel on public transport without worrying about the cost.

“They have contributed to it all their lives.
