MP Jeremy Corbyn will speak out at a debate on public services in Islington.
The left-wing MP for Islington North will be joined by Islington-founded anti-cuts campaigners UK Uncut and other activists in addressing the Islington People’s Assembly on Saturday, September 17.
They will debate the impact public sector cuts by the Conservative-led coalition government are having on Islington – as well as looking at what they consider to be the causes of the recent London riots.
Campaign group Islington Hands Off Our Public Services (IHOOPS), which organised the event, said: “The assembly hopes to begin to establish what the cuts mean to the local community, what kind of protest and resistance could successfully challenge these attacks and what an alternative could look like.”
It is at Caxton House in St John’s Way, Archway, from 12.30pm to 5pm.
