Travelling neuroscientist Paul Dean got to grips with a festival celebrating the wonders of the brain on Monday.

Wonder: Art and Science on the Brain, which is on at the Barbican, in Silk street, lets curious visitors hear amplified brain waves, knit their own neuron or even watch mock brain surgery.

The exhibition coincides with British Neuroscience Association’s biennial conference, which is being held at the same venue this week.

Professor Dean said: “It’s an nice introduction to the brain, a good way to start. It’s a positive thing to get people interested in science. It can be a bit scary, but this festival is trying to make it less mysterious.”
