FRIENDS and neighbours have paid tribute to a mother found dead in her Archway home last week.

Penelope Anne Marie Mazzocchi's body was discovered by police after they forced entry to her flat in Levison Way, on the Grovedale Estate, St John's Way, last Wednesday at around 3pm. The 38-year-old was mother to a 15-year-old son.

Mourners left flowers and cards at the door of the block of flats where she lived.

A 43-year-old man has been charged with her murder.

Friend and neighbour, Catia D'Innecco, tearfully described her last meeting with Ms Mazzochi. She said: "She was a really lovely woman and she has been so helpful since I moved here. I can't believe she's gone. I only saw her a couple of days before this happened. We got the lift together and she did not seem her usual self but she still asked me how I was and said that she was enjoying the good weather.

"She was a really nice and friendly woman and was very honest and a very good mum to her son."

A card left with flowers as a tribute read: "Penny, I love you and I will always remember you you nutty woman. You always used to make me laugh. You're such a sweet lady. RIP honey. Love you forever from Vicki and Shaun."

Another neighbour, whose son knew Ms Mazzocchi, said: "She seemed like a lovely girl and a very caring mother. She was certainly well thought of on the estate. Everyone here has been left in shock after this."

A post mortem at St Pancras Mortuary showed that Ms Mazzocchi died from stabbing and other injuries.
