It was tea, cake and scones all round when a community centre hosted a charity coffee morning last week.
Some 50 people turned out for the event, in aid of Macmillan Cancer Research, at the Mildmay Community Centre in Woodville Road, Newington Green on Friday, raising more than 420 for the cause.
Volunteer Maggie Shoebridge said: “We started on sandwiches, then went onto some nice scones and some home-made cakes. We played bingo and had an enormous raffle.
“A really nice time was had by all and, what was nice, is one of the ladies stood up for a vote of thanks for bringing so many people together. There was such a nice atmosphere.”
