A CYCLIST killed in a collision with a parked car on Good Friday has been named as Gavin Taylor.

The 40-year-old builder and decorator died at the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel at around 2.30am after crashing into a blue Ford Focus near the junction of Mildmay Grove North and Wolsey Road, Newington Green, two hours earlier.

Mr Taylor was a popular local footballer, who turned out for many years for Hoxton Casuals at the Market Road pitches in Holloway. He lived in the Newington Green area.

Flowers have been laid at the scene, where a tribute reads: “Dear Gav, miss you and your rubbish jokes already. Rest in peace mate.”
