‘Kind-hearted’ Allan Evans, who cared for his elderly mum, one of three to be killed in coach crash

A “much-loved” man who cared for his elderly mother died in a motorway horror smash on Valentine‘s Day.

Allan Evans, 59, from Newington Green, was one of three to die in the collision with his Audi A3 and a double-decker coach at about 6.45am on Saturday morning.

Mr Evans was driving two other men, Nathan Reeves, 23, and Tom Aldridge, 20, home from a night out in London and was parked stationary on the hard shoulder of the M1, near Flitwick, when the incident happened.

Tributes paid to Mr Evans described him as a “loving, kind-hearted”, son, brother, uncle and carer to his elderly mother, who will be “sorely missed”.

Nobody on the coach, which was travelling from Kent with a group of 60 women and three men in their late teens and early 20s, was hurt.

The driver of the coach involved in the collision, a man in his 70s from the Kent area, was arrested and has been bailed to return to Kempston police station in May.

A fourth person involved in the crash, a man in his 20s, from Newport Pagnell, remains in a critical but stable condition in hospital.
