A regenerated adventure playground welcomed back eager children after a week of improvements.

Upgrades to the facility in King Henry’s Walk, Newington Green, were completed by volunteers and included the installation of a fire pit to accommodate bonfires and outdoor cooking, as well as new arts facilities, climbing structures, and swings.

Rebecca Bull, the playground’s senior play manager, said the enhanced space had been positively received. She said: “They loved it, they thought it was amazing.

“They were really impressed by what could happen in a week and were really touched by people coming out of their work to help.”

The playground is open to children aged six to 13 free of charge, while a youth club for teenagers with activities ranging from football to gardening, also operates on the site.
