ALISON Ibbs's letter (Viewpoints, Gazette, February 28) is surprising, not least because she told me, when she signed the petition at the school gates, that she was resigning as a Hugh Myddelton governor - specifically because she opposed selling off play and green space.
Alison is also aware that the IWCA's position on the proposed Hugh Myddelton "development", has been stated in newsletters distributed to homes across Finsbury and in leaflets given to parents outside the school; some prior to the petition being carried out.
Like parents of children at the school, the IWCA is 100 per cent in support of improvements, but not at the expense of handing school land over to a developer.
The IWCA has also discovered that independent advice which stated that funding for school improvements could have been obtained from elsewhere has been ignored. Something else that parents were not privy to. So much for the "consultation". - Sharon Hayward, Independent Working Class Association, WC1.
