THE death of Islington boxing legend Frank Warren’s brother remains shrouded in mystery after a coroner returned an open verdict.

Mark Warren, 43, died from multiple injuries after falling from the balcony of his fifth floor flat in St Philip House, in Lloyd Baker Street, Clerkenwell, in July.

But an inquest at St Pancras Coroner’s Court has failed to establish whether he jumped or fell to his death.

The court heard that Mr Warren, the youngest of three brothers, had a history of schizophrenia and had not been taking his medication regularly.

But a neighbour who saw him just hours before his death described him as looking “normal”.

Frank Warren, 58, had kitted out the flat a year ago when his brother moved in following a stroke.

The boxing promoter has managed some of the greatest fighters of the last 30 years including Nigel Benn, “Prince” Naseem Hamed, Joe Calzaghi, Ricky Hatton and Amir Khan.

An obituary placed in the Gazette by the Warren family in August read: “Mark Warren - always in our thoughts, forever in our hearts. He will be greatly missed.”

A collection taken at Mr Warren’s funeral was donated to mental health charity MIND.
