A WORKMAN got stung with a 400 plus bill when he parked on a housing estate after it banned all parking for non-residents.

Only people who own or rent properties in Isledon Village, Finsbury Park, can now park there after the new regulation was introduced last month.

Painter and decorator James Bramble, 42, said his van was towed away after he left it in Stacey Street overnight on Monday (February 28).

CES, working for housing providers Family Mosaic and Circle 33, said it would cost him 425 to recover the vehicle.

Mr Bramble, who lives on the nearby Harvist Estate, off Hornsey Road, said: “This seems an astronomical price to pay for overnight storage. I have been parking in Stacey Street for several years and did not have any idea about the changes. There is a sign regarding the parking but it is halfway down the street.”

Mr Bramble said his employer Mitie would cover the charge.

Isledon Village includes 217 dwellings and a mixture of private properties, social housing and nursing homes.

A Circle 33 spokesman said: “CES have been appointed by seven landlords from across Isledon Village who over the past two years have consulted extensively with their residents to find a suitable parking scheme that meets residents’ needs. The new scheme was put in place in January and all residents had been told about this through meetings, emails and letters. There are also signs in each street that state the new parking regulations clearly.”

The spokesman said it is likely Mr Bramble was not informed because he does not live on the estate.

She also said residents supported the parking ban because shoppers regularly park in Isledon Village.
