The annual Peace World Football Tournament took place at Cally’s Market Road pitches on Sunday.
This year 12 teams and 122 youngsters competed for the Peace Cup trophy, which was eventually lifted by Finsbury Park Mosque’s B team.
The event was supported by a coalition of community organisations, including Islington Faith Forum [IFF], Targeted Youth Support and Islington Police.
Roz Miller, of IFF, who organised the tournament, said: “So many different people and organisations contribute to the Peace Cup every year and some of these young men come back year after year to play – it’s all about community and it’s pretty special.”
The trophy and runners-up medals were awarded by Millwall’s Islington born striker, Aiden O’Brien.
The competition aims to promote peace and community cohesion, and it’s delivered by volunteers.
IFF is a community partnership of faith-based organisations and projects working together to assist people in Islington.
