A picket is set to take place outside the Whittington on Monday to support striking hospital staff.

Health workers’ unions across the country are set to walk out for four hours on October 13 in protest at worsening pay conditions and cuts to the NHS.

The Defend the Whittington Coalition, Islington Trades Union Council (TUC) and the Islington branch of the National Union of Teachers (NUT) have called a demonstration outside the Magdala Avenue hospital from 8am to support the strike.

Ken Muller, branch secretary of Islington NUT, said: “Hospital workers do us all a favour just by turning up to work in the morning.

“We want to show our solidarity, both as fellow union members and people who use the NHS.”
