Plans to a demolish a community centre and replace it with houses have been approved by Islington Council.
The site of the Hanley Crouch Community Centre – better known as The Laundry – in Sparsholt Road, Crouch Hill, will be turned into eight terraced four-bedroom houses.
The redevelopment is linked to a separate planning application which will also see the nearby Ivy Hall Community Centre, Holly Park, being bulldozed and replaced by 23 affordable flats.
A new, larger, facility for both communities will be built on the Ivy Hall site and include meeting rooms, halls and offices. Money from the private sales of the terrace houses in Sparsholt Road will be used to fund the new centre and the flats.
