Theatre charity to deliver new outreach programme in Cally’s Market estate

Pleasance Theatre Trust has been awarded £47,000 to deliver a new youth outreach programme centred in Cally’s Market Estate.
Pleasance Theatre Trust has been awarded £47,000 to deliver a new youth outreach programme centred on the Cally’s Parkside Estate.
The funding was announced by the Greater London Authority on Friday as part of the Mayor of London’ new £45million pot to help the city’s youngsters excel.
The trust will partner up with The Working Party to host 14 months of arts engagement on the estate, where it will mentor 30 young people between the ages of 14 and 21.
Anthony Alderson, director of Pleasance Theatre Trust, said: “We are looking forward to fully embracing and realising the civic potential of our building in Islington.
“This funding will enable us to embark on an ambitious arts-led community outreach programme, that at its core is about listening to, and co-creating with, the amazingly talented young people right on our doorstep.”
The Parkside Estate replaced the old Market Estate high-rises, which were demolished from 2004 after becoming notorious.
