A bag of meat was hurled into the grounds of the Finsbury Park Mosque in the early hours of Thursday morning in a suspected hate crime.

Police believe the man in this photo has information about the attack on the St Thomas’s Road mosque, and have asked anyone with information to get in touch.

It is not known what kind of meat was in the bag, Scotland Yard added, because it was thrown away before anyone could check.

“We take hate crime extremely seriously as we know how destructive these offences can be, both to individuals and to communities,” said Det Insp Ralph Coates of the Islington Community Safety Unit.

“I would urge anyone who recognises this man or has any information that will help the investigation to contact police.”

Anyone with information about the incident or who can identify the man is asked to contact Islington Community Safety Unit on 020 7421 0281 or alternatively call 101. You can also contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you do not want to give your name.

Police ask that you quote reference number 2712630/16.
